If Early Access is not a marketing tool, then why do you unfairly promote and market "some" early access games and not others?

To anyone still having problems with this: at 6:51 when he runs the app_build, what you want to do instead, is run the new file called simple_app_build. Make sure you alter the depot and idapp values inside this one too.
What's the best way to tag cross-genre games? Accurately include all major tags? This seems to confuse steam about what type of game it is. Or pick one of your genres and focus tags on that?

I was just told by a marketing company that I should relaunch my early access game (with a different name) as it didn't have 7000 wishlists at luanch... Can I assume this is rubbish then ?
There is one flaw with STEAM that needs to be addressed someday. Hopefully soon. Is this one... You work on a project for a year or 3 and release it on Steam. You start seeing sales and income... You're happy because your work has paid off. Then the day to get paid comes (one month latar) In this example you are expecting 17K, why 17K because it's a great number? 17gross will now shrink to about 12K, then shrink further by STEAM magic (30% cut for STEAM of your work) to a total of about 4500-5500 in your bank depending on refund percentage. Imagine if STEAM paid for those refunds all by itself, I bet it would become just like Sony on those refunds. Bottom line, they really need to stop kicking down indie devs and small studios who can't reach that epic sales threshold to generate billions of juicy $ for STEAM to chew on and then give them a discount from 30 to 10%.
I feel Valve is one of those company, which really take care about game devs.

On the topic of secret handshakes, I find interesting that shortly after I posted my comment here, that a Freemason gave me my first negative review after playing my game as badly as he could. After checking his other reviews he gives a mix of recommended and not recommending games, even when his comments contradict his score.
12:05 thank god you are talking about this. I am tired of games that don't show UI on their store pages. You will never know what the game is if UI is not included.
This is like Valve's sending me a DM to keep making games, as I just started working a Steam release!

About keeping your audience; Many games with a poor experience offer "dress up kits" to personify a second life for you to come back to. When a game is good people ignore this completely and still come back.
I had zero interest in this video, but Kaci’s manner of speech somehow hooked me and I watched till the end, and even took useful notes. Valve knew what they were doing, right? Also, poor Biscuit, DON’T SILENCE HIM!!!
Kaci should have her own series about tips for devs on regular basis. also this 6 hour talks seam very needed and I would love to watch it, soooo you know :)
These tools have been super easy to use. The level of thoroughness here has been making my title very stable, very quickly, and I'm having a ton of fun developing with steam.
